Ildar Abdrazakov

Honored Artist of Russia, winner of two Grammy Awards, People's Artist of the Republics of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan, Ildar Abdrazakov is one of the most sought-after Russian opera singers on the world stage. Exclusive artist of Deutsche Grammophon.

Born and raised in Ufa. In 1999 he graduated from the Ufa State Institute of Arts (class of Milyausha Murtazina). In 1997, he took part in Irina Arkhipova's television competition "The Grand Prize of Moscow", won the M.I. Glinka competition and was invited to the Mariinsky Theater, where he made his debut a year later in the role of Figaro ("The Wedding of Figaro"). In 2000 he joined the opera company.

The victory at the Maria Callas television competition in Italy made the name of Ildar Abdrazakov famous in Europe. This was followed by his debut at La Scala in Milan in 2001 in Bellini's opera Somnambula and the beginning of an international career. A year later, the famous conductor and artistic director of the theater Riccardo Muti invited the singer to the same stage, offering Ildar to perform the role of Banquo in the opera "mAcbeth" by G. Verdi.

Since then, the singer has been actively performing on the most prestigious stages of the world: the Metropolitan Opera, the Paris Opera, the Vienna and Bavarian State Operas, Covent Garden, the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, etc., regularly sings at the Salzburg Festival. He has given solo concerts at La Scala three times – a record for a Russian opera artist.

In 2010, accompanied by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Riccardo Muti, he took part in the recording of G. Verdi's Requiem. In February 2011, the recording was awarded two Grammy Awards in the categories "Best Classical Album" and "Best Choral Performance".

In 2018, he took part in the music program of the opening and closing of the FIFA World Cup.

In 2019, he made his debut as a director, directing Attila J. Verdi at the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater. The play was also shown in Moscow on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater.

In 2016, he established the Foundation for the Support and Promotion of Young Talents and the Development of International Cultural Ties, which has been holding an International Music Festival since 2018.
